wir wurden bereits spät abends an der haltestelle des vaporetto abgeholt. das B&B liegt ganz in der nähe der rialto-brücke, zentral, und ist trotzdem angenehm ruhig . das frühstück war (entgegen ital. verhältnissen ) kontinental.auf wunsch wurde man beraten ( restaurantwahl z.B.)und nicht enttäuscht. auch für venedigkenner eine durchaus positive erfahrung.

Firstly, the interior and furnishing of the room were beyond my expectation. It is very comfortable and the bathroom/shower is an haven after a tiring day. Many thanks to Alexandro our host for the hospitality and warm reception. He also gave us sufficient information on Venice. Truly according to his advice, "Please get lost in Venice" and we heeded it and had a fantastic time.

Nothing much except that things and meals are costly in Venice.

The accommodation has been renovated to a very high standard. Alessandro personally met us at the vaporeto stop which was very kind of him. Room was quiet so we had a good nights sleep. Felt safe once we had locked the front door which are triple locked. We were very pleased with the close location to the Grand Canal and the Rialto markets & bridge.

Posizione centrale, ben servita dal trasporto pubblico. Veramente a due passi dal ponte di rialto ..subito dopo una piacevolissima passeggiata attraverso il variopinto mercato della frutta! Alessandro è stato un ottimo cicerone fornendo preziose indicazioni.. molte delle quali non "turistiche".. su come vivere Venezia!! Ottima la colazione

Our host Alessandro was amazing, so helpful and met us from the boat. He got up early to make us breakfast before we left and yet left us to our own devices which we liked. Loved being in such a quiet and close to everything area and feeling so well looked after.

The only thing was the water pressure, but that did not bother us.

La cortesia ed la professionalita' del proprietario. Molto orientato alla soddisfazione degli ospiti e prodigo di suggerimenti e suggestioni sulla citta' e su come leggerla. L'unico suggerimento che mi permetto (ma per celia) di non condividere e' quello di non comprare la mappa della citta'. Comprtate la mappa e seguite comunque i consigli dell-anfitrione.

Unser Wirt hat sich sofort nach der Buchung mit mir in Verbindung gesetzt und hat mir gute Tipps zur Anfahrt und zum Parken gegeben. Ein tolles Service war, dass wir von der Vaporettostation abgeholt wurden und zum Quartier begleitet wurden. Das Frühstück war ausgezeichnet.

Wonderful experience! The owner, Alessandro, was amazing he got us fresh croissants from the local bakery every morning. Very nice room with quite a large bathroom for Italy. The location was wonderful, right by the Rialto Bridge & maybe a 10 minute walk from San Marco's Square. Could not have been better!

The whole experience was fantastic. Our room was a mix of modern and traditional and was to a very high standard with both air conditioning and heating. The location cannot be beaten, difficult to find a genuinely quiet place to sleep that is within steps of the Grand Canal. The Rialto market is no more than a few moments walk. We had not stayed in a bed and breakfast until the Ca Barba thinking we preferred the hotel experience, but I do not think we would consider anywhere else to stay on our next trip to Venice. The owner Alessandro is clearly an intelligent, thoughtful host who makes very effort to ensure each guest has an individual experience; his advice is endless and effective.

Immaculate - but it gets better. This innkeeper is genuinely concerned that your Ventetian experience is carefree and rewarding. Upon arrival, he gave us 2 books to acquaint us with the city, the people, and the history. His recommendations and suggestions were 10 out of 10. He couldn't have been more accommadating.

Our host Alessander did everything to make our stay wonderful. He askes us if we had any special dietary needs which we had. He went out of his way to make us a breakfast that we could eat. His Latte was delicious. A very generous breakfast. One day we overslept due to jet lag. He was very gracious and made us breakfast when we were ready. He was very helpful with suggestions and directions to places of interest. It was also great that he understood English well. The location of B. & B. being close to the market was an added bonus.

It was very difficult finding the B. & B. I don't know the answer unless Alessander was to meet his guests at an arranged place and take them to Ca"barbe. It was frustrating going over the same bridge many times with a suitcase. trying to find the B. & B. However, we finally struck it right. After about three tiimes over the same bridge. We had turned off too soon. Perhaps a sign could be put up on the walls by the market pointing you to Ca barbe B & B. or some arrows to say follow the arrows to B & B.

Alex was a great owner I have ever met. He told us how to enjoy and explore the beauty of Venice. He was a really polite and kind, and especially warm person. He carefully decorated the house with well-selected small antiques, which we loved a lot. The breakfast with daily-made fresh croissants and fruits was also wonderful. The facilities and location were excellent. Alessandro was always available to assist us in any way possible. It was great that he met us at the water bus to take us to the room.

Alessandro is a superb host! His B&B offered more than we could have imagined and we would most definitely stay there again. It was immaculate, roomy, had a private bathroom with an incredible hot-tub. His breakfasts were delicious, every detail was perfect! He went out of his way to recommend shops and directions to places we wanted to visit, told us where the best places to buy the merchandise we asked him about, and his suggestions were right on target every time. In fact, the restaurant he suggested was the favorite of our stay in Italy! Alessandro is a very interesting, honest man to deal with and we can't wait to see him and stay at Ca Barba again! He is truly an outstanding Venetian ambassador.

Alessandro was a wonderful host and we greatly enjoyed our stay at the Ca Barba. He met us at the vaparetto stop and showed us to the location. The room and bathroom were both spotlessly clean, and the jacuzzi shower was very nice! The room was very large by Venetian standards and also had a spacious closet. It was so big my husband and I were both able to store our luggage in it and have it out of our way. I had heard about the mosquitos in Venice, and Alessandro had a plug-in mosquito deterrant ready and waiting in the room to use in the evenings if we opened the windows. He lent us a very interesting book about Venice that I encourage all who stay there to try and read at least part of. Alessandro made dinner reservations for us at a wonderful place close by (which was great since it was raining that night and we didn't have far to walk), and also made reservations for us at another restaurant I had planned on trying. He made sure we had plenty to eat in the mornings with wonderful fresh chocolate or cream filled croissants, breakfast "pizzas" (take his advice and get them - yummy!), cereal, juice, cappucino and tea. He is everything you would want in a host - simply perfecto! The location is very convenient to walk from, and close to the Rialto Mercado vaparetto stop. I would recommend the property to couples on holiday.

The location of the Ca Barba is close to the Rialto Mercado. Because of this you will hear noise from the market starting very early in the mornings (3am) when the dealers are setting up their stalls. The birds can also be pretty loud in the mornings as the fish are being brought in. There is a produce supplier down the street, and you could hear his cart going up and down the cobblestoned street all morning as he made his deliveries. If you are disturbed by these noises, you might want to bring some earplugs. But you can also take the attitude that they make you feel part of the neighborhood and can add to the charm of Venice. Venice is a very close-knit place, with little privacy between neighbors, but that is also one of the reasons it is an extremely safe place to be.

Da B&B Cà Barba ist ruhig aber zentral gelegen. Alessandro ist ein zuvorkommender Gastgeber, der jederzeit mit Rat und guten Inputs den Venedigaufenthalt bereichert. Sein Restaurant-Tipp erwies sich als wahrer Geheimtipp - dieses Preis-Leistungsverhältnis wurde in keinem anderen Restaurant Venedigs erreicht (..und übrigens auch nicht auf unserer weiteren Reise durch die Toscana). Unübertroffen! Im Cà Barba gibt's ein (für italienische Verhältnisse) ausgezeichnetes Frühstück - frische Brötchen, Joghurt usw. und ausgezeichneten Kaffee. Meine Kinder waren von den Whirlpool-Badewannen begeistert (und möchten das nun auch zuhause). Jederzeit wieder.

Allesandro is the best asset of the place. He makes it a whole different and personal experience and just goes out of his way to do whatever is needed to help. The place is beautiful and clean, confortable....nicely decorated...nice breakfast....the real Venice experience.

Since I took my time to respond to the first offer, I had to pay more for a bedrrom with a Jacoozi which I didn't feel was worth the price but an earlier booking will allow you to stay in rooms that have a regular bath and the price is better.

The owner is a evry good host, listens to you and caters for your smallest requirements. My wife and I loved the B&B and felt content on all aspects of services. He also is very passionate about Venice and always gives nice details and advises so it really helps in planning your stay in Venice. his best advise was "throw the map and lose yourself in the streets and canals of Venice" and that is exactly what we did and it made our vacataion that much better and memorable. I strongly recommend the B&B C Barba to anyone.

E' stato tutto perfetto, Cà Barba è un bellissimo B&B in posizione ideale vicinissimo a Rialto Mercato. Alessandro, il proprietario è una persona squisita che ci ha dato tanti fantastici consigli ( oltre ad un bel libro ) per vivere Venezia al meglio, dai posti dove mangiare bene evitando "trappole per turisti" ai posti da visitare, passando sempre per l'idea di base....quella di girare a zonzo per venezia senza una metà e senza mappe, l'unico modo di vivere veramente la sua atmosfera.....ha avuto ragione in pieno su tutto. Consigliatissimo!

Un B&B moderno y muy confortable dentro de una antigua casa veneciana totalmente remodelada. La ubicación es muy buena también para quien no quiere estar en el medio de la Piazza San Marco. Muy cerca del puente de Rialto. El dueño muy amable y dispuesto a dar consejos para conocer Venecia como la ven los venecianos.

La habitación era encantadora, todo está muy nuevo y limpio. Alessandro ha sido muy atento con nosotros, nos ha venido a recoger a la parada del waterbus e incluso ha llevado mi maleta. El café que sirve para desayunar es excelente. La estancia y el trato han sido inmejorables. Totalmente recomendable.

Everything was just perfect about our stay at CA Barba. Alessandro was very nice to us, he even gave us a nice book to read about Venice. Because he is venetian he was able to recomend a great restaurant. Not one of those restaurants, were they practicaly ripp off tourists, with high prices and food not worthy of them. The place was frequented by locals, it had a warm atmosphere, good food great prices. Alessandro would wake up every morning, and buy us fresh pastries from a place he knew. He would make us delicious capuccinos, and if we wanted a refill it wasn't a problem. So we highly recommend the place.

Alessandro and Laura were extremely hospitable hosts, helping us to find a local trattoria for dinner, and always being available for our incessant questions about Venice! The room was lovely and done with attention to detail. You see the taste and pride of ownership in everything.

The mosquitoes....I wasn't expecting them to in Venice (we were there in October) so take Alessandro's advice, and use the mosquito deterrant in the room at night, and keep the windows closed and you'll be left undisturbed.

The owner, Alessandro, was very accomodating throughout our stay. He speaks English very well which was a plus to us. He is also very informative of Venice famous places to visit. I would highly recommend this place to anyone (even to our families or friends) visiting Venice because the place is clean, close to vaporetto (water bus) and restaurants. I would definitely stay here again.

Sehr persönlicher Service, Alessandro ist sehr hilfsbereit und gibt viele gute Tipps für den Aufenthalt in Venedig. Absolut ruhig gelegen und idealer Ausgangsort für Erkundigungen zu Fuss oder per Schiff, gute preiswerte Restaurants in der Nähe. Tolles Frühstück - ganz dem eigenem Gusto entsprechend. All of the very positive comments written by previous guests about Ca'Barba that are on the website are true. The location of the B & B and those comments are what led us to make a reservation there. Our stay with Ca'Barba and Allessandro, the owner, was perfect in every way. It was even better than we could have hoped for. The location is perfect; very close to all the activities, but the lodging was in a quiet area. We felt like we were part of "the city," but only part of the activity and noise when we wanted to be. Allesandro goes above and beyond anyone's expectations. He willingly found and helped us after we had taken the wrong waterbus from the airport. When we had to leave very early the morning to head for the airport, he got up even earlier and prepared a breakfast for us. Our room was just what we wanted as well. We had a wonderful time in Venice, in a large part due to our very good luck in finding Ca'Barba. We want to return to Venice and stay there again. We are already recommending Allessandro and Ca'Barba to our family and friends as the place where they must be. We are looking forward to our next visit in Venice and Ca'Barba!

B&B very clean, great jaccuzzi shower and lots of hot water, big bathroom, lots of towels, quiet, safe. Allessandro makes excellent cappuchino and caffe latte, the pastries were fresh from the bakery every morning. He picked us up from the vaporetto stop.The location is excellent-very central,near the vaporetto stop, Grand Canal, Rialto fish market and places to eat. Allesandro gave us an excellent advice- do not use a map, just enjoy, you will not get lost. So true. Ahh, Venice was serene and beautiful, hope to come back soon.

B&B was easily located by approx. 20 min ride on No. 1 vaporetto from main train or bus station with good clear directions given by host (Alessandro). Vaporetto stop is very handy to B&B with approx. 5 min walk. Clean, attractive modernised facilities. Very handy to markets (fruit, vegetables & fish) and quick and easy walk to Rialto Bridge. Many restaurants nearby. Alessandro has excellent english and very helpful if you have any questions. We stayed in a very good sized room. Adequate fresh rolls and croissants with coffee for breakfast. Would stay there again.

A few of the lightbulbs were blown and perhaps these could be checked between occupants. Also battery missing from alarm clock, which would have been helpful for our early morning departure.

Allesandro was very hospitable during our 2 night stay. He even helped us find our way back to the B&B after getting lost in town at 11:00 at night. The place was fantistically clean and modern. The location is a little tricky to find (but that's Venice), but it's in a quiet area that is a 5 minute walk to Rialto, the central area of the city. We would certainly stay here again.

It was a very pleasant stay at this B&B. The room was very nice and the bathroom excellent! The location, in the centre of Venice, nearby the Rialtobridge, is perfect to see Venice. Si ere mayor te recomiendo que solicietes los cuartos del primer piso porque la segunda escalera es muy empinada. Si sos joven no hay ningun problema y las habitaciones son muy pero muy buenas

Our room was pleasant, bright, clean, and large enough for a queen-sized bed and a cot. It had been restored thoughtfully, with pictures of Venice then and now on the walls and a perfectly modern bath. The charming young inn-keeper Alessandro did everything he could to make us comfortable, including allowing me to use his computer when my Iphone perished in the canal; he went overboard, figuratively speaking, by walking with me and carrying a bag for me to the Rialto vaporetto stop so that I would not have to transfer going back to the parking lot. My experience of Venice was greatly enhanced by Alessandro's at first mystifying command not to look at maps and his willingness to make restaurant reservations!

Alessandro, the owner, is a really nice and caring person, ready to give advices and help out in all possible ways. The B&b is just what you could possibly want from this kind of structure: clean, comfy, newly furnished, in a nice area (the market and the Rialto Bridge are just a few steps away) and in a quiet "calle". Staying at Ca'Barba was a very pleasant experience and the fact that the owner Alessandro met me off the Vaporetto when I arrived at night was a nice personal touch. He also 'rescued' me when I got lost one evening. Ca'Barba is just off the main tourist track and Alessandro very willing to recommend different things, places and books. very nice and Alessandro was very hospitable/ and full of useful information. if you arrive late as we did 1130 pm there's a surprisingly good Chinese resatuarant that stays open late and serves excellent seafood - the salt and pepper prawns are really nice.

Ca Barba was a wonderful find in Venice. Our room was clean, stylish and comfortable. The proprietor was very accommodating and kind (he met us personally to lead us to the house; he made reservations at excellent nearby restaurants on our behalf, etc.) The location is off the beaten path but not at all remote. We would warmly recommend this B&B and hope to return there ourselves.

La struttura è esattamente come la si vede nel sito, Alessandro è gentilissimo e disponibilissimo, anche grazie a lui abbiamo vissuto a pieno Venezia in tutte le sue bellezze. La struttura è davvero vicinissima a Rialto e a due passi dal mercato, servitissima da vaporetto e traghetto. Tornassi a Venezia alloggerei sicuramente qui.

Il titolare è una persona gentilissima, molto disponibile, socievole e rapidissimo nel rispondere alle mail nelle quali chiedevo informazioni. La struttura è ottima: le camere sono ampie e luminose, molto pulite e ordinate, riscaldate e ben arredate. Molti i canali disponibili per la tv e ottimo il collegamento w-hi fi. Ottima la suite 201 con vasca idromassaggio. La colazione è abbondante, il rapporto qualità/prezzo decisamente buono sia per la struttura che per la posizione centrale della stessa, dalla quale è possibile raggiungere a piedi facilmente tutti i luoghi di maggior interesse. Consiglio a tutti coloro che dovessere andare a Venezia di alloggiare presso la struttura.

Non ritengo ci siano aspetti negativi.

Lage sehr günstig (3 Minuten zur Rialtobrücke), sehr ruhig, Frühstück sehr gut, Besitzer sehr bemüht, sehr entgegenkommend, eine große Badewanne, die unseren Kindern (2 und 6) den Aufenthalt sehr versüßt hat, Doppelzimmer auch mit zwei kleinen Kindern vollkommen ausreichend. Unterkunft absolut empfehlenswert, wir kommen wieder

Too little space to mention everything. Starting from prompt response via e-mail, Alessandro is fantastically helpful and made our stay ever so pleasant. He waited for us at the vaporeto, so no problem finding the hotel, gave sound advice about attractions, food, shopping, booked the dinners and concerts, prepared a really brilliant espressos in the mornings. He even lent us a fantastic book "Venice is a fish", strongly recommended. Not to mention a perfect location, just across Ca'd Oro, minutes from Rialto Bridge. Looking for an excuse to go there again, soon.

The host was very kind, answering all our questions and needs. Location is perfect, very close to Rialto Bridge. Rooms are brights and cleans.

Room 101 is a bit noisy as it's just above the kitchen and under another room.

Das Zimmer war gemütlich, frisch renoviert und war angenehm groß. Das Duschbad war ebenso neu wie das Zimmer und das Ambiente nett.

Alles war bestens.

Camere molto accoglienti e molto pulite. E' posizionato a pochi passi dal ponte di Rialto ed è comodo per qualsiasi spostamento. Alessandro il titolare, è molto disponibile e ci ha dato ottimi consigli per visitare al meglio Venezia ed i suoi locali. Crediamo proprio che ritorneremo. Ottima anche la colazione.

The location is perfect (close to Rialto) and the owner is very friendly. He knows what is goiing around in the surroundings and likes to share information. The B&B is brand new and very well maintained. The breakfast was excellent.

This small B &B is very well situated in a quiet though central neighbourhood. The owner was very service minded and inquired about our breakfast wishes and gave us directions and advice. Our room was fairly large, confortable with a nice entirely re furbished bathroom, nice looking room with discrete colours and decorations. Good quality! We were glad to be met at the vaporetto stop as we arrived in the evening.

My only comment would be that some more hangers or hooks for outdoor clothes and jackets would be good. Otherwise everything was fine and met the description on the website.

Excellent host and beautiful surroundings. Very reasonable rates for venice and perfectly furnished. Breakfast prepared for you every morning to your individual requirements. I definitely recommend this place to anyone going to Venice.

Ottima la posizione, tranquilla e comoda per ogni spostamento a piedi o in vaporetto. La struttura è ottima e ben tenuta, le stanze sono più grandi di quanto non sembrino in foto. Grade cortresia del titolare nel consigliare come vivere Venezia da "veneziani". consigliato

I had an excellent stay. Everything exceeded my expectations. Location is crucial in a holiday and Ca Barbe is located in the middle of Venice, near Rialto and San Marco. Our host was exceptionally nice, he even came to get us right on top of Rialto bridge. If I would visit venice once more I would stay again at Ca Barbe!

il titolare e' molto disponibile, preparato e gentile. il b&b e' in un'ottima posizione, tranquilla, a 2 minuti a piedi da rialto, 100m dal vaporetto e vicino a una trattoria che costa poco e si mangia bene. l'idromassaggio e' una figata. colazione abbondante e di qualita'.

Alessandro (the owner) is extremly hospitable and helpful person. He was even so kind as to serve as breakfast very early in the morning on Sunday, as we were going to leave early. Everything was exactly like it was described on the site, rooms are spacious, bright and cosy. The hotel is situated in a quite, though in a central place. The premises were newly renovated with delicate taste, and the furniture, I guess, is antiqurian one. It has already been mentioned here, that there are photos showing past and present of the same place in Venice. Sometimes the difference is great, sometimes not, but still it gives the feeling of living history and insight. I would deffinitely stay there again.

We much enjoyed the location of the B&B, the house itself and the service.

We would very much have preferred to pay with a bank card or cheque, as carrying that much liquid money is not safe.
It would also be good to have an easy chair in the bedroom.

the host, alessandro, was extremely hospitable, not only helpful, but kind and an interesting person to talk to. his english was better than my italian. the house was beautifully renovated, the appointments much better than what one would expect for an albergo. he obviously took great pride in them. we also liked his choice of and taste in the wall decorations. interesting photos of venice, past and present. not only tasteful, but informative to look at. we will definitely choose this accomodation on our next visit.

we wished we had known about the mosquito repellent gadget in the room. it was there, had we plugged it in or been warned about the mosquitoes, we would have avoided the numerous bites overnight. but, this may not bother people who are not bothered by mosquitoes as much as we are.
